FA cup is the only really major trphy they have won. UEFA ain't as big as the champion's league. No one gives a fook about the League Cup or the Charity Sheild and the Super cup WOW!

I'll be impressed if they win the league or the champions league.

I disagree w/ you on the belittling the value of the UEFA cup. I actually think that was Liverpools greatest achievement in some years. We beat some very strong sides along the way, Roma, Barca to name but a few.

As a lifelong RED, I'll be the first to put my hand up & say [@ least] The Worthington Cup, Charity Shield & Super Cup dont hold much water, but my point was just to commend the actual achievment oc concurrently holding 5 trophies smile.gif

Personally I think the effort that goes into winning the UEFA cup is worth an automatic place in the Champions League the following season- That applies for any team in any given year.

The champions league has become so conveluted in terms of how teams can qualify to get into anyway, if the UEFA Cup champions were to be granted an automatic place this would primarily be healthy for competition in the UEFA cup and perhaps ween out some of the very poor teams that will grace our screens in the Champions League prelims over next few weeks!!

Whatever anyone says- We still have the 5 trophies @ Anfield wink.gif

Heres yours truly on holiday in the Canaries in 1988
I'll tell you one thing that has changed in football....

    liverpool-88.jpg

That jersey cost me £8 in 1988 in Marathon Sports in the Ilac Centre.
Last Sept. I bought the current red Jersey (L/s) in the Soccer Shop for £50. And who says we dont have hyper-inflation!!

Well they did manage to get a European trophy and beat Bayern Munich, which is more than Man U seem to be able to do at the moment.....

I have to say that I think Man Utd's reign of terror in the premiership is over.
I reckon old Fergie is losing it, leaking goals left, right and centre in their first few games and he goes and offloads his top defender. ( saying that the auld c*nt will prolly come out with some big signing tomorrow)
Liverpool for the Champions league and premiership double!!!

    2 questions for LFC fans

    1. Do you think we have a chance at winning the league this season (realistically)?
    2. What do you think of John Arne Riise?

I thought he was outstanding in the Supercup.

    Scary

And then in a moment of absolute clarity he realised that there was nothing, not because everything had ceased to exist but rather that it had never been there to begin with.
    Free Your Mind.

    1) Yes. Though probably not if we have to play as many matches as last season.

Man Utd are far from the Super Team we were all lead to believe before the season started, I think we have a very good chance of winning.

    2) He's terrific. smile.gif

As an Arsenal Fan I'm glad to see Liverpool rising again, eventhough you ba$tards beat us in the FA cup.

Its nice to see Liverpool and Leeds challanging for the Premiership and hopefully now one of us will kick the Scum off the top !!!!

    R u Mental ??????
Challenge Arsenal and Man U this year?????
    Liverpool won 5 Trophies, ffs.

As a Liverpool supporter, hopefully this year other teams like the scum (Man U), boring Arsenal and the other half of Liverpool (Tranmere Rovers) will challenge us to trophies unlike last year. biggrin.gif

And I dont think the scum will win anything this year. rolleyes.gif

    1) Yes
    2) Not a bad effort

Until you win the League again then those trophies are worth nothing. My best friend is a 'Pool fan and that is his opinion.

2 of the trophies you fluked, The Worthless Cup and the FA Cup (where you had 2 Goalkeepers). So please don't give me that crap. The 2 trophies that are worth anything and will signal that Liverpool are a force again are the Premiership and the Champions League. Man you try to be nice to Scousers !!!!

    Gandalf.

    </font>

    1. Yes ! But....
Its all dependant on the form of the other top sides. ie. Utd really going off the boil and Liverpool playing to their potential. This could happen especially w/ Count Dracula Himself, Jaap Stam heading of to Rome! It is possible though. I could easily say this about Arsenal, Leeds & Chelsea as well and I wouldn't have said that before the season began. It's only based on what I've seen to date in the Prem.

    2. In relation to Riise.....
Haven't seen enough of him yet to rate. He has looked very good going forward but we haven't played against any top class right wingers yet (and that includes Beckham) to guage his defensive capacity.
If you remember we had a left back last year who was good going forward but had some defensive howlers (namely -v- Leeds @ Elland Rd.) Mr. Ziege of course!

    BTW....
Its a bit of damning indictment of english football if they're picking Danny Murphy in the squad against the germans (arguably their biggest match in a few years)
Suddenly the Irish team looks strong smile.gif

I'm not a united fan, but the ABU's in this thread are so lame!

"Ah, the scum won the champions Cup by fluke!"

    Would you cop onto yourself!

The number of matches you play to win the champions league now! Luck averages itself out. Yeh they were jammy in the final. But you make your own luck. They didn't let the heads go down.

Or did you not notice how lucky the 'pool were to win the FA cup. More likely you just dont apply the same standards to yourself!

Oh yeah nearly forgot, GWAN the Bolton!

Liverpool played more matches last year than any other team (more matches than Man U did when they won the champions league, Fa cup and league title) . In some cases it was luck (so what??), but its FIVE TROPHIES.

well, as a poor old spurs suporter, you cant become philisophical about football. after all ,theres nothing else to do when you spend 10 seasons in a row in mediocre land.
but i will say im delighteds with liverpool at the moment. they play superb football. its entertaining, its flowing and its exciting. i think most people will agree a game of football at its best no matter who is playing. i dont like amn utd, but i do think they play good football and i like to watch them play. the same goes for arsenal. but at the moment i think the best games ive seen recently involved leeds. a team with nothing to fear that just keep getting better.
i mean, after all is said and done, its not like spurs team of old foggies are going to get anywhere (except maybe to the post offie to collect their pensions smile.gif)
i say well played liverpool. they deserved all they got and i hope that this year someone will challange utd. i gave up looking at the footbal scores after february last season as utd had practically won the league. they are still the best, but i think theres 4 or 5 clubs coming up behind then very quickly and i reckon tyhe league will be a bit diffeerent this year.
if we can keep a the red cards to a minimum

    Whats your point Johnny?

Is it that I'm right, luck sometimes plays a part, and those lame ABU's who bemoan Man U's achievment in winning the champions league, by claiming it was flukey are kidding themselves. Is it that Liverpool used as much, if not more good luck winning their trophys?

As you dont make any points, and probably failed to read my post, that is how i will take your reply.

My point is that Liverpool are not given the same respect as Man U. Man U won three trophies in one year, Liverpool won 5. But still people play them down.
