Myself and the boyfriend are planning to go away for the june bank holiday weekend and was just wondering if anyone could recommend a nice hotel in Killarney or Wicklow.
Looking for somewhere that's close enough to town with good facilities. somewhere with nice scenery and stuff to do during the day, thought killarney or wicklow would be nice.
    Anyone with any ideas?

Travelled down to Killarney last week, lovely place altogether, amazing scenery, lots to see, i.e. kenmare, torc waterfall, mucross house and gardens, great food, people and pubs. stayed in the great southern, abit expensive but well worth it i reckon.

I don't mean to be controversial .... but Ireland is a complete rip off ... no need to go into specifics about anywhere, we all know the story, it's a bloody disgrace.

The more people are willing to go to Killarney and willing to pay the outrageous prices, the more it will continue.

I stayed in the Killarney Tower hotel last week. It's a basic hotel right in the middle of Killarney. It has Buffet style dinner which was pretty poor tbh. The scenery is lovely but the town itself is a little crass commerical operation....everything is a b&b, hotel, restaurant, touristy shop...bit souless.

Now that i got that little 'rant' off my chest..... I'd suggest as regards value for money, Northern ireland.

I know Sterling has to be taken into account, but still is far cheaper, drink and food very reasonably priced, and hospitality staff are in general ... Irish

North Antrim Coast (Cushendun, Cushendall, Carnlough, Giants Causeway, Bushmills area) is a great place to visit, and makes Killarney look so false.
Definitely the most scenic part of Ireland.

B&B's are great, and if you'd like a suggestion, Londonderry Arms Hotel in Camlough, used to be owned by Winston Churchill, and is not in a loyalist area despite the hotel name.

Rooms are clean but basic, but food is unbeatable, hospitality great, people great craic, and scenery in the area second to none (You can keep your plush plastic rooms as far as I'm concerned).

is that the killarney towers hotel or is it the tower hotel group hotel which i think is called something different.

Looking for somewhere within walking distance of town if possible.

Been a few years since I was in Killarney, but I stayed in the Killarney Park Hotel at the time, nice spot, and have no complaints about it.

I must also add my approval to this hotel. I also stayed in the Gleneagles Hotel in Killarney twice (if memory serves) it was nice enough too.
