Don't see a model name and number.

I presume it's multiregion or it's easy to get the multiregion code?

    cheers

It's sold in Lidl as Silvercrest KH 6507 but also known elsewhere as eBench KH 6507, as far as multiregion goes it comes as region 2 but the links above have all
the mods & upgrades you'll ever want, you can even fit a USB port, the menu options on this dvd player are the most comprehensive I have seen , you can change just about anything. ;) except the colour, although they do come in black or silver.. :D.
download the latest firmware, it will add new menus ;);) one of which will allow you to select any region you want :)

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

That USB / Harddisk mod is pretty cool

Although you would have thought it not too hard to include a USB 2.0 port in the cardreader?

Lads I have this player and notice the framerate can be quite crap with certain vids. Stuttery almost. I haven't been too impressed to be honest. And it's not the vids fault as if you check fps etc... all's good.

Does this mean you can put and SD card into the player and it will show images on the card?

I only notice this problem when playing downloaded dixv movies not with regular
DVD's, see this thread for a solution.

    What's the frickin' point, then!?!?

All I'll say is, there's a Phillip's DVD player out there, priced at about 120e, and plays DivX movies. I'm not saying where in case they're all sold out by the time I buy one (stupid exams and lack of money).

But I'd rather get a known brand that plays DivX stuff. Screw the card reader. iPhoto and iDVD can do all that for me....

I wouldn't go near any of phillip's laser products with a ten foot barge pole

Spending more money does not guarantee better quality, my first DVD was a top of the range sony which was £300Ir  it came with a big lip sync problem
and took sony quite a while to admit to this, lots of recalls to fit a new chips :(

Well, I wouldn't be a huge fan of phillips myself, and I do admit that Aldi and Lidl's stuff can be excellent. (I bought a Medion DVD writer and took it home to find out it was a Pioneer A05, which was three times the price and had always wanted one... great stuff)

But if a player is going to have frame rate issues, I am not arsed having to reencode my videos or anything like it.

I have the lidl dvd player for a while now and I've not really had a problem with anything on it. The only minor one I've seen is that when you've paused a divx playing from either dvd/cd or a cf/sd card it takes a 2-3 seconds for it to resync the sound once play begins again. Not a major problem.

I was trying to get another one this week for home but they were all gone. I picked up one of the philips ones (Dvp 630 I think, its mentioned on the divx homepage) yesterday as it seems the best alternative I could find on short notice. Good reviews and philips seem to provide firmware updates to it.

Pixmania seem to do a lot of divx capable dvd players too (around €50 and up) based on some searches I did yesterday.
