Carpet waste

I just got new carpet and now have the old carpets to get rid of. The old carpet is wool so there should be some green way of getting rid of it. Anybody know what to do with it? I was actually surprised the carpet shop had no obligation to at least tell me how to get rid of it.

When we got new carpet into our house ages ago I cut up the old carpet and put it down in the attic to use as an insulator. If you don't mind the work it's an idea. As well as not just going into a landfill it'll reduce your heating bills slightly. Don't know of any Green ways of disposal myself.

You could use it as a weed barrier under gravel or on flowerbeds (then cover with bark). It will rot eventually.
