Hi, i have been looking up a few websites about airbrushing and different effects it can produce etc. But i am wondering if anyways here has used arbrushes and does it take long to get a grip of? i am more interested in the grafitti style of art and i am wonderin what type of surfaces that can be used for airbrushing.
Also is there any decent art shops in Dublin? i have tryed the one upstairs in stevens green but the selection for the type of things i do is very limited. I am looking for some pro markers and a place that supplies airbrush kits. Thanks alot!

oh, you mean like using actual airbrushes.. i thought you meant ones such as in PS. ok, well I am only briefly familiar with air brushing on paper etc.. it does take a lil while to get used to.. I mean they are much more even that a traditinol can.. They can be adjusted depending on the nip u have.. as for where to buy the stuff.. couldn't really tell you.. check out the grafiti thread on in Art / anim / photo.. and maybe pm a few of the ppl that seem like they know what they are talking about.. good luck

thanks alot mate, yea i was thinking about how wet the paint wud be or how think the paint on paper would be and that it would probably just seep through unless u had some strong paper. I am checking out the grafitti thread now but no mention ! I wouldnt mind a grafitti forum on boards tbh, would be cool to see different art pieces from around the country or some personal grafs by irish people instead of going to foreign forums for a grafitti fix!

For a decent art shop, Evans Art Supplies are really good. They're somewhere off Capel Street. I can't remember where, (it's been awhile since Art college) they're kinda tucked away in one of the side streets! There's another good one just off Camden Street called O'Sullivans. It's huge. I dunno if they have airbrushing kits but they could probably tell you in both stores where you can get them.

Seriously check out Evans, its really good for cheap paper, plastacine and paint. O'Sullivans is good for any type of materials you need for graphics etc. Also good for Portfolio cases and display materials.

Yea ill check it out definately, finding it hard trying to get information on airbrushes and the techniques etc or even the paint used! You work for Evans dont you ! *chases with pitchfork*

No, I don't. I did 2 art courses and to find Evans was great, one coz it's really good prices and 2. coz they have so much good stuff. I'd say it's where all teachers go and get stuff for school. All the crayola modelling clay etc. It's a hard place to find and it's moved twice on me!!

I did airbrushing in college, but it was with make-up. But it's the same idea. Used body paint with air brush with little motor. Doesn't take long to get the hang of and is great fun!! :D

How do find the airbrushes? do you do largescale or small scale pieces. Are they easy to use?

o sullivans art supplies in grantham st. dublin sell airbrushes and supplies, tricky stuff tho. best to look up some airbrushing sites first to find out what type of airbrush to buy based on what you will be using it for, personally i prefer a gravity fed double action brush. it allows more control over your spray, hope this info helps
