    PC card- USB/Firewire.

Does anyone use one of these?

Do they count as high speed USB connections?

I got a USB hub and its useless.

Do you mean that you have or are planning on getting a PCMCIA card for your laptop ...The card is a slim card that goes into a slot normally at the side of your laptop ...The one you seem to be on about is a mix of one of each .USB and FIREWIRE ..The speed of the usb will depend on if its a usb ver:2 or usb ver:1 the difference between these is that usb ver:1 runnings at speeds of up to 12mbps and usb ver:2 which runs up to speeds of 480mbps and firewire ver:1 which runs of speeds up to 400mbps" mbps means megabytes per second"...I doubt that the card your talking about would have firewire ver:2 which goes up as far as 800mbps...as its quite new to PCMCIA cards....

I use one of theses cards and with 2 x usb2,s on it and beleive me its very fast compared to the usb:1 , thats made into my laptop ...I hope this helps you a little ...it sounds like your in the same boat as me as in that you have usb:1 made into your laptop ...so the card will make a bit diffence in transfer speeds

Cheers- Im prolly gonna pick one up one of these days.

I have 2 USB2s already but thats not enough. I need USB2 for my MIDI keyboard and also for my external soundcard, but I cant use a touchpad so I need another port for my trusty mouse.

I bought a hub, but neither the keyboard nor the soundcard work off it, so at the moment Im just not using the MIDI keyboard.

2 more USB2 ports would rule. The USB hub was a total waste of 70 euro. I didnt realize these were available when I bought it.

    Cheers.
