My dads '96 Brava won't start because of the immobiliser, the key and everything seems fine but Is there anyway to bypass the immobiliser?
Its not realy worth spending much money so maybe someone else out there had a similar problem??

Is it possible the battery in the key has run down?

No don't think so, he only got a new key 2 months ago. I saw something on the net about been able to disable an immobiliser by a combination of turning on off ignition or door locks but this was for a Rover 200. Anything similar for a Fiat?

Get a set of jump leads, it's most likely the battery. The alarm, lights & radio will work, there's just not enough current in the battery to start the car.

check the owners manual first - the ECU in many new cars dislike jump starts

There should have been a red key sold with the car, you need this and you will get info on www.fiatforum.com on the sequence to start the car with it. If you don't have the red key then you need to replace the chip in the ECU with one which bypasses the immobiliser. If the engine is turning over strongly, then the problem isn't the battery.
