    Hi all,

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or not.....

I'm in a long distance relationship and when comes to visit next week I'd like to do something a bit special as we've been going through a rough time lately. He usually just stays at mine. I was thinking about booking a really nice hotel in town (Dublin city) and doing the whole sexy night in (bubble bath, champagne etc) thing. Have been looking into hotels and just can't find one I like the look of for this!! Any ideas?

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas of something else I could do if not that? What would you like your girlfriend to do for you for example?

Any help or ideas gratefully received :)

They don't have a hotel in Ireland... http://www.swallow-hotels.com/

Why not outside Dublin, like Kilkenny or similar?

Hey, I always do Ionapaul. If that's something special to you, your girlfriend must be REALLY strict....

Anyway, back on topic. Anyone got any helpful input?

If you are talking about a 'special night', then it shouldn't matter where you go or stay so long as you get to execute your plan. The likes of a Bewleys inn hotel shouldn't break the bank, and if you are reasonably quiet you'll have no issues and you can get a big breakfast in the morning! ;)

    Best of luck!

is he into football, motorsport? Might be a good idea if he's into cars to book a place in the training course in mondello or the rally training centre in monaghan, and also book a hotel close by for your other activities ;) and if your fella ever dumps you, I'm always here  :p

I'd agree with hshortt, you don't have to break the bank to have a good time ;)

    bewleys hotel in ballsbridge.

    its nice and its cheap.

apart from that, why dont you ask him to send you a wish list of things that will brighten his day?

Thanks lads. You're right by the way about it not mattering where we go. I was thinking I might just get somewhere central and have some champagne or whatever sent up. Just as long as there's a bath cos I know he'd be chuffed with that!!

Basically the reason I want to do it is because we've not been getting on too well lately because of work stress and the added stress of the long distance thing (we're together 3 and a half years now!!). Hasn't always been long distance though. Something like that would be really nice for a change.

Plus I feel really guilty about New Year's Eve two years ago when he booked a hotel in his city (UK), had a bottle of champers he'd been saving etc. Got back to the hotel after being on a mad one all night and all I wanted to do was go to sleep cos I was so pi$$ed!!!! Got a pretty icy reception the next morning. Have always wanted to make it up to him so now's my chance to do it when he least expects it!!!

Any more ideas feel free to throw them in my direction :)

had this planned for a while ago but we ended up heading out of the city instead

The hotel down in smithfield have suites some of which have jacussi outdoors on a terace. It more expensive then a regular hotel but not as break the bank as you may think it would. check that out

Take him to dinner in a hotel, excuse yourself before coffee and have the waiter bring him a room key.

Couple that without some of the more exotic suggestions above.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for all your suggestions. I was actually looking at Chief O'Neill's yesterday cos I thought it looked cool. I read a few bad reviews on tripadvisor.com though (great site actually). Ended up booking la Stampa before I logged on and saw your posts. It's quite reasonable on a Sunday and dinner is included. The rooms look fab as well.

Looking forward to it now, hope he appreciates it!!

brought my boyfriend to the Clarion Hotel fown at the IFSC........lovely hotel. You get free breakfast the next morning....we ordered everything off the menu that we could for free (huge selection)and we paid for pancakes and an excellent fry up. It cost me €160 for the night but was worth it. I rang up the hotel directly and got a deal that was on. Similarly this offer is on at the moment

Wow that looks great thanks! I'm gonna stick with original booking this time just because there is a 3 course meal for two people included in the price of €180. But I will definitely be keeping that in mind for the next time, cheers.

Most men don't dig anorexic chicks, and men on average prefer a slightly higher average weight than women think they do. I'm still grossed out by the ribs on Glenn Close one in Fatal Attraction.

Is he into motors/boats etc. - if you tons of money a shannon cruise or go-karting to get the adrenelin up - not to most peoples taste , just a suggestion.
