Buying a new digital camera

    Hi guys,

Looking to buy a new digital camera as I'm going to Africa this summer and want to take some decent pics. I like the look of this Kodak (about EUR200) but it would be the upper limit of my price range.

Any recommendations? I'll be buying a 512MB memory card with the camera as well. I also would prefer a camera that can upload pics directly to the iPod Photo using the Camera Connector, or can upload to any PC via USb without the need to install software (I don't have my own laptop and use Uni PCs a lot).

I've never bought electronics online before. Anybody ever have any problems with Amazon? Should I buy somewhere else? (Cork city).

    Any advice greatly appreciated

I've bought a few electronic things from amazon, including a digital camera and i've had no issues with them.

Good customer service in my experience as well.

I bought the Canon PowerShot A80 on amazon. Similar enough specs the Kodak you have linked there.... Great camera, it take very good pics for a 4MP. Recommend it to anyone.

i got a Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 recently and am very happy with it. I can upload directly to my iriver with it.

When i was looking at cameras that could upload using usb on the go to my iriver I think Kodacks wouldn't work as they needed software so be sure to check compatability between your camera and ipod.

The Kodak seems like brilliant value though. If I bought a Memory Card Reader, would I be able to transfer photos to PCs in college using USB???

Check out www.dpreview.com (for reviews and tutorials) and www.pixmania.com (for buying stuff). www.7dayshop.com sometimes has good bargains in the clearance/specials sections...
