The cliff-hanger for myself. SG1 wrapped itself up neatly enough, so that it doesn't demand an immediate resolution whereas SGA does. I'm quite interested though in the changes coming to SG1, so as a season I'm looking forward to it as much as SGA, just not its first episode.

Actually the 'first' episode of Sg-1 will be a three parter'.

Personally, I think some of the ideas for season 9 are bad ones, I think they should use this season to tie up all the loose ends with the otehr races now that al-l the bad guys are dead.
i.e. the ree'tu, the re'ole (sp?) tok'ra and especially the aschen.

Then the SGC can go public in the middle and the second half can be about the implications of this....or at least a few episodes.

Umm but they dealt with the possibilites of going public in S8's "Covenant" and touched on it a number of times elsewhere. I doubt we'll see the SGC going public as a result.

I would really like them to tie off a number of the other arcs alright, not least some of those mockingly touched upon in "Citizen Joe". Going through S2/S3 currently, I defintely think the Re'tou are something that should be returned to and not just Niirti's Re'tou tech. These were meant to be a serious threat but for some unfathomable reason, they've not been touched. One possibility I can think of - and maybe someone can back me up on it - is that the episode where they were introduced "Show and Tell" was written by Jonathan Glassner, who has departed the franchise. I imagine he has creative control over their use and maybe he's forbidding them being reused in the show, in much the same way as, for example, the Terry Nation estate stalwarted the use of the Daleks because they had control over them, and not the BBC. Just a theory.

There's also the Achen, as you say, to be covered. Wouldn't mind seeing those damned Furlings too rather than a new race. Would like to see Aris Boch's fate (for a one-off) and see if Jack left behind a kid in "100 Days". Would prefer to see the NID/Covenant type storylines finished off (it looks like they are). Not too sure if SG1 or SGA should cover more history of the Ancients.

Not too sure how I feel about a new threat. I've vague notions of what it's about but trying to remain spoiler free. Will still be greatly looking forward to the triple-whammy of great programming coming to Sci-Fi Friday soonish...

I mean going public properly, liek they intended to do in Lost City, not the crap they came out with in Covenant.

I think your explanation of the Re'tou thing is the most logical.

I read a spoiler about the Aschen arc, I think they said it was supposed to be cleared up in season 8 but alas...
Also, I don't think we'll ever get to see the Furlings, perhaps somethgin of an 'in-joke' amongst the writers?....or mayeb the perosn who thought them up left.

Come to think of it, there are a million and one loose ends that haven't been tied up, the young Jack clone being another one, I guess we have a 10thseason in the bag!

The new threat isn't so much a let down/disapointment in itself, as much as it is dissapointing that they are not tieing up the loose ends...how can I explain it without ruining it?......let's see.
The Stargate programme was set up to try defend against the Goa'uld, then we met the replicators who were worse etc....
Then we were supposed to find the key to defeating them both in Atlantis (which is a differnet kettle of fish altogether) but instead it was found in our galaxy, and both of these un-beatably tough bad guys got wiped out in two episodes.

Now, all of a sudden, this new super enemy, who as the writers say would wipe the floor with the Goa'uld and Replicators, appears out of nowhere, with no mention previously etc...
That's why I think it's a bad idea as opposed to tieing the loose ends.

Like introducing a new charcter to the SG-1 team instead of using a character that's already in the show.

They did want to revisit this one. AFAIK they wanted Young Jack for "It's Good To Be King" but the problem is that Michael Welch, who plays him, is fully committed to the show "Joan of Arcadia", which he signed up for. So it's going to be problematic getting him in for an SG1 episode.

I have to admit that I'm looking forward to SG:A much more because of the cliff-hanger. We all know that barring a major contractual dispute, there's no way Shepard is gonna hit that hive ship! :D

And we'll get to see the Deadalus (sp?) at last. I still consider SG-1 the better show, but the way the series ended didn't leave me with the same sense of anticipation as the ending of Atlantis.

    SGA Season 2 Episode 1
I like both. They've both got a charm to them. But I'd probably have to go with SG1.

What I'd actually like to see more of is..Ya know the episode where Apophis made Teal'c betray SG1 and he subsequently had all those flashbacks? Well, more Jaffa stories like that.

Never really liked the NID storylines, but I'm sure we'll see the return of Kinsey and the Trust somewhere along the line.

The big question is, will they have yet another episode of recylced clips? Both seasons 7 and 8 had one, will they go for three seasons in a row?

Wasn't Kinsey killed in season 8?

Damn right there'll be another clip show!

He was last seen taking one of the wrist devices that control the transporter from a dead Trust guy. When the other Trust guys come on to the bridge a few minutes later, just before the ship gets blow up, there's no sign of Kinsey.

He merely appeared to die in "Full Alert". It's quite possible he escaped the ship he was on before it got blown up.

Hell yeah! SG1 has had clip shows from S1's "Politics", S2's "Out of Mind", S6's "Disclosure" and S8's "Citizen Joe". "Citizen Joe" showed it could be quite inventive too. We expect them nowadays, particularly with SGA eating into the budget a little.

Didn't think Disclosure was S6, that makes it three in a row already then. S7 had "Inauguration".

Wasn't he host to a Goa'uld at that point....I thought it was a bit of a Col.Simmons-esque fate.
