Spam Fax's

Alright this is really annoying, first off I satarted to get fax's from dell, around 3 or 4 a week about special offers. I had a load of trouble trying to stop them, they said reply to this number to unsubscribe which I did every time but that didnt stop them. Then trying to get through to them on the phone?? I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to get to speak to a person in Dell unless you are buying something. (by the way if I just randomly dialed someone on the sales desk they would say "let me transfer you" and then hang up) so this wasted loads of my time.

Now I am getting faz's from "Prism, unit 24, hills industrial estate, Lucan, Co. Dublin" and they are sending me a question "who is the manager of liverpool" text your answer to win a match package to anfield to 57252.

How is this legal? They haves sent it 3 times now. They are using my ink, and my phone line. How can it be legal to send someone something they havent requested? Can I report this to someone? So far this has cost me time, ink and the money to reply to these people to tell them to stop sending me fax's.

a solution I heard is to print up 3 pages of loads and loads of black text, pictures etc. tape the 3 of them together and feed them into the fax machine. and dial the number of the spamming fax machine, and when the edge of the first page comes out, tape it to the end of the 3rd page - voila, endless loop which transmits loads of black characters for them to print out and they quickly run out of toner and paper. You could even include some sort of "please fcuk off and leave me alone" message in the fax if you want.
Haven't tried this meself, but sounds like a good approach to a nuicence problem.

Had the same problem with Dell myself. They are aggressive f**kers when it comes to their marketing. As for the follow up idea of replying with an infinite loop of faxes, this won't work simply because the number sending these faxes is just a computer based fax server dialling numbers sequentially; it's nothing like the fax machine sitting on your desk...

Man thats a pity, that would have been a great way to get revenge.

Make a complaint. They can be fined up to €3k per spam fax. Of course the DataPrivacy crowd will do their best to discourage you from making a complaint but persist and wait about 6 months and watch out for them to appear in court.

can you get in contact with your phone provider and get them to block the number?
