Looks pretty good but I thought the trailer showed way too much of the movie. I hope there's more in it that wasn't shown.

    Excellent excellent film!!

Amazing performances from all the cast... but especially Rory Culkin, Scott Mechlowicz (surname something to that effect) and an absolutely astounding performance from Josh Peck.

I'm afraid the trailer shows basically what happens throughout the course of the film. But the actors in it all are such pro's... and show that with each of their personal display's of grief and the mental breakdown they go through.

Anyways.. the trailer does show a LOT! But the film probably has some of the best performances i've seen from young new actors in a LONG LONG time. What i liked best about it was the constrast the very dark and sombre second-half had in comparison to the lighthearted fun and frolics in the first half.

Once again... look out for Josh Peck. For a teenager who has mainly acted in light-hearted kids TV shows, it's a real shocking standout performance!

If it's on in your local cinema: go see it! But i'd like to say to anyone expecting to go to this film expcting something really exciting.. this film is not a thriller... more of a coming-of-age drama with very dark undertones!

Anyways, to summarise BRILLANT!... another one of my favourite's from last year!

Well it reminds me, from the trailer, a fair bit in premise and all of Larry Clark's "Bully". Is it in anyway similiar? That was a dark coming-of-age drama that I enjoyed.

Haven't seen 'Bully'..... but judging from Larry Clark's other films, i don't think it's as raw and controversial!

Just go into the cinema with a open mind... in my opinion, just enjoy the breezy first half and enjoy the intensity of the performances, especially from Scott Mechlowitz, in the very different second-half!

The film won't win Oscars... but i think will grow to have a cult following. The film probably reminds me most of 'Stand By Me', but slightly darker.

Best to go in there without any comparisons to other films... you should enjoy it!

Ye I got the dvd a while back, great performance from a cast all under 20 years old. It wont win anything big,but it won a few things at film festivals and at the Independent Spirit Awards it won Best Movie made for under $500,000 and they made up a special distinction award for all the young actors.
    _________________________________________________________
This year the Spirit Awards Nominating Committee chose to give a Special Distinction Award to the ensemble cast of Mean Creek: Rory Culkin, Ryan Kelley, Scott Mechlowicz, Trevor Morgan, Josh Peck, and Carly Schroeder. In the words of the Nominating Committee, “These young actors turned in performances so uniformly unselfish, and so intricately in tune with one another, that it became impossible to single any one of them out from their extraordinary achievement together. Their work is of such high quality
that it moves beyond craft to achieve that mysterious truth and beauty that constitutes the finest acting.”

And it is nothing like Bully,I was so disapointed with Bully, despite having a great actor like Nick Stahl (Carnivale) it was a porn movie pretending to be a movie about a Bully. I think thats all Larry Clark can do.

Bully was not all that great alright.Have to say I was slightly disappointed with Mean Creek also though.Great performances alrite but I felt the plot could have developed slightly faster. Some fabulous shots when they are on the river.
