Can't believe I'm posting in Outdoor Pursuits!

Aaaanyway, I need a tent for Glastonbury in June. It's for me and my 9yo youngfella, but I'm rather large and I don't remember there being a whole lot of space in the 2 man tent I stayed in on my own last time around.

I'm guessing I'd be better off with a 3 or 4 man tent but I'm not sure which, and I'm not sure if there are different types, and how much of a difference in cost there is, and whether I'd be better off buying locally or on the net. Any tips?

Go for a four man tent or bigger. Most people going to festivals seem to shop in Lidl or Aldi for their tents but try the Army bargain shops too.

Why bigger Phil, are they really that small? Would I really need bigger than 4 man for an adult and a child, even if the adult is rather large? :)

I'm honestly not worried about the price, as yerman's getting the tent for his birthday afterwards. Obviously I don't want to spend ridiculous money, but no need to skimp either. That's why I wanted to ask, make sure I got the right thing, not some useless yoke that'll melt at the first sign of rain. :)

Go to the Army bargains then, or Millets and get a 3 man. You'll need the extra space for your backpacks etc. A 4 man might be a bit big for a 9 year old to lug around. I'm not a big bloke and my two man tent which fits me, a backpack and and that's about it.

Actually, go to Millets and tell them what you want and have a look at what's on offer. There's a million and one tents out there :)

Thanks for the replies Phil. I'm going to pop into Mahers this afternoon (I'm in Cork) to have a look around, and if they're too pricey I'll just spec something out there and I'll order it off the net, get it delivered to the sister's gaff in London. I'll be carrying it on my tod, so I'll check out the relative sizes of them packed while I'm in there.

    Ta again,

Ta. Apparently there's a dedicated tent shop up off McCurtain Street too, so I reckon I'll head there first.

Bought one in that place in McCurtain Street last week. Nice simple 3-man, €65. They've plenty of tents up in there, so it's a nice place to check them out. Cute foreign girl working in there too. :)
