    Moved.

Why do you want it? Do you specifically want a 2 channel amp?

I learned there not to long ago that Mesa Boogie we're the first amps to offer channel switching and also the first to offer effects loops!!!

i heard a friend of a friend playing one (not the greatest guitarist in the world) and it sounded pretty cool for a practice amp like...ijsut have a soft spot for features :D

If you dont need effects, get this amazing amp for a quid less than the vox. Seriously, go see mike got spiked live, Conall gets amazing tone from his tour reverb half stack. Pristine cleans, and lovely thick defined distortion.

nah don't need that kinda power, thanks

Eh, watts only means headroom, not volume... It probably wont be much louder than the vox, but it wont distort as much as the vox at a similar volume... crappy solid state distorting. If youre goin solid state, i wouldnt recommend anything under fifty watts unless it was for bedroom usage.

That tour reverb is perfect for you, three channels and reverb, no excess sh1te like effects.

Is there anywhere in these parts I can try a Hughes and Kettner? You've peaked my interest Dave. :)

Not that I know of... Adlib, carlow have a H&K warp 7 in stock but its too 'metal' really. Maybe Instrumental stock them, I really dont know.

I'd say go with a flextoneIII, there's nothing they cant do! I just mentioned the tour reverb because theyre pretty good and thomann have ridiculously low prices for them... everywhere else stocks them for €500ish!

I'll try Instrumental next time I'm in. I like the Flextone but for some reason I just don't like digital amps. I don't think I'll buy another amp that isn't either a damn good solidstate or a valve amp. Probably valve too. :)

Yeah, the flextone will be great for me... I'm trying to get a home recording setup together so it'll be great for direct recording.

Im gettin: a behringer mixer/preamp, shure sm57 mic, usb soundcard (not sure what to get yet) and possibly some monitors when i can afford them

that h&k amp is the one for u boss.and anybody who has doubts about the flextone jus needs to play one to cancel them out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,691 ✭✭✭david

Yep, I hated the thoughts of modeling amps until i tried the flextone. Now Im a line 6 convert!

I've spent a lot of time fiddling with a Flextone in Musician and I still just have a prejudice against modelling amps. They sound great but give me something with valves any day. :D
