Hi guys, i have just been sitting here contimplating a band I have been listening to alot over the last few months. The Kasabian album is quite frankly fantastic. Its the only album I have (with the exception of paddy casey -living) which my girlfriend will listen to with me. Yet you can not possibly claim that it is any way commercial. It has gone straight in as one of my all time favourite albums with the likes of dark side of the moon, revolver, ok computer etc.

Does anybody have any thoughts as regards Kasabian?

a purposfully self conscious parody of the lo fidelity all stars or primal scream circa xterminater would be my take. nothing particulaly stand outish apart from their arrogance.

I love their album. Such a great listen. Dying for the follow up which hopefully will be out before the end of the year.

I'll see you that and raise you a "conspicuous attempts to craft a Stone Roses esque anthem".

Will spend the next 5 years soundtracking ads for Sky Sports.

I cant believe people are comparing Kasabian with stone roses. The only similarities I can see is that there are four in the band and they play guitars. To me Kasabian sound like Pink Floyd after drinking 10 lucozades. They are full of energy but those backround sounds they have going on are not really similar to the roses. I would put them in the same category as Ravi Shankar, and even dance music. Listen to ten story love song, then listen to let forever be by the chemical brothers and tell me which sounds more like kasabian?

Good band and I like the album a lot but you must be related to Helen Keller if you can't hear the similarities with Primal Scream and the Stone Roses...

ah, who cares if they sound like someone else.
It's not as if new bands have to sound totally original... I doubt much music would be made if so!
It really bugs me when people go one about it... as those bands themselves based their style on others....
Take Jet for instance... a very T-Rex , 70s rock band... and I think they're brill! Rip off whoever you want, as long as you can carry it off; sound good; and put on a good live show :)

I said Kasabian are similar to Primal Scream and the Stone Roses.
I didn't say they ripped them off....

Agree with you there. They have elements of Primal Scream, Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses. Which is a bloody good recommendation. They aren't the saviour of rock n roll yet , but are far more interesting than all the dull bands around at the moment like Razorlight, The Bravery and The Killers.

Yeah they're also one of my favourites of that new rush of bands that came, i.e. Bloc Party,The Bravery,The Killers! and i think they are relly bringing something different to the table!

I don't think much of them to be honest. But I don't really like any of the new new wave bands.
