That was a major shock. I don't even know what "name" drivers are even available. Is Salo testing for Toyota? I think that he is. Knowing EJ though he's probably got something up his sleeve. How unhappy is Villeneuf at BAR?

Looks like they're gonna set up Zonta for the next race, although, as kix said Jordan is up to something, remember despite Damon Hills utter ****eness in his last season EJ let him finish.

I am a massive HHF fan but at the same time I was massively disappointed by how badly his season went, you dont get outqualified by your teamate 10-1 without something being amiss frown.gif

Interesting theory about Villeneuve, last season he approached Jordan about a drive after they got honda engines, but jordan refused due to villeneuves reluctance to partake in press activities. Times change, now Jordan MUST beat BAR by any means necissary

    Statement From Jordan Grand Prix
With immediate effect Jordan Grand Prix has terminated its contract with Heinz-Harald Frentzen for the 2001 and 2002 World Championships.
'It has been a disappointing season for both of us,' explained Jordan's Chief Executive, Eddie Jordan. 'We had an exchange of views following the British Grand Prix and this is the outcome.'

The team's third driver, Ricardo Zonta, will replace Frentzen for the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.

I wonder what he's up to? He's not going to finish the season with Zonta.

Also remember that Truilli (spelling?) manager is team boss of Sauber .....

Its a shame Frentzen is gone but as we saw while his was at Williams when his down his really really down frown.gif

Zonta I think will finish the season while there " new" driver is brought in but who knows :/

Zonta's unlikely to complete the season and Jerson Button is a probability for next year. The real question is who to get to fill the void?

Theres an awful lot of extremely talented drivers floatinh arounf in F3000 and sportscars at present, who for one reason or another never quite made it into F1. Will Jordan take a gamble?

According to ireland.com, heinz harald frentzen has been sacked by eddie jordan following a "difference of views", and ricardo zonta will replace him for the german GP. Who would be frentzens best replacement?

Perhaps Dario Franchitti will finally enter F1? I can still see Zonta finishing the season though.

As for Frentzen, I'm glad to see the back of him. He wasn't the same since his wife had the kid (also known as Mika Hakinnen syndrome). Interesting to see he's taking legal advice - obviously no love lost between Eddie and Heinz

Even though I was their captive, the Indians allowed me quite a bit of freedom. I could walk freely, make my own meals, and even hurl large rocks at their heads. It was only later that I discovered that they were not Indians at all but only dirty-clothes hampers.

Dario Franchitti is "tied" to Jaguar in some way or other. If I was him, I'd stay in the States till that ends smile.gif

Looks like Alesi is the most likely candidate now.

What Robbo says about Franchitti and Jaguar has a familiar ring to it. I do know that he's tested for them a couple of times. There's also the scottish angle (this being the former Stewart outfit). In fact, he may also have strong ties with Rahal from Indy racing, I don't know.

I've heard that B+H would like to see Button on board a Jordan. They want to raise their profile in the UK and feel a British driver would be the way to go. You can't rule out Alesi, his ties to EJ go way back to F3000, but I think that he's getting a bit long in the tooth, much and all as I like him personally.

Alesi is having a good season atm, I'd love to see what he can do with a not-so-sh|tty car to play with. As for franchitti, I find he is too inconsistent for formula one, when he is good he is very good, but when he is bad he is horrid

    *sorry for the cliche*

Put Zonta in the back of a hatchback car without a seat belt - he sucks. I really hope EJ has someone decent lined up.

I wouldn't if I were them, F3000 isn't quite the hotbed of future F1 talent anymore as it used to be. Look at any F3000 race and you'll see drivers missing braking points left right and centre, there really is a complete lack of experience there. F3 on the otherhand would have much better drivers imo, most of whom would have worked their way up through the various formulas to get their, say current examples being Sato, Button and that new chap Jaguar applied for an F1 superlicence for (names gone out of my head at the mo).
Even European Renaults would be a better ground for new talent (say Raikonnen as a prime example).

    Doesn't M.Schumacher have two kids? smile.gif

eh? dunno where you got that from..
Dario Franchitti is one excellent driver, with brilliant 98 and 99 (where himself and montoya ran away with the championship) seasons, even 2000 despite a seious injury he done well in the races he competed in.
I don't know about this year tbh because I haven't been keeping up to date with CART regularly, but to say he's inconsistent is ridiculous.

Edit: crappy quote tags messed everything up on me smile.gif

    WEll, its all over now...

Alesi to Jordan for the rest of the season, and HHF to Prost. But the two events are unrelated, honest, says EJ and AP.

As for next season.....Jean Alesi has not been confirmed, so EJ is keeping his options open.

Personally, I think he should give Sarah Kavangh a ride (err, not that way you filthy-minded git. Go wash your brain out). F1 needs a cute chyk driver, who can at least show up some of the men who probably shouldnt be there in the first place...

Sarah Kavanagh? the part-time BOSS championship driver and tv presenter?
Cute? Talented? How about neither, although yes it is nice to see women competing at that level... mmmm race overalls smile.gif
