My connection to eircom bb keeps going down every 30 - 40 mins, the usual "unable to resolve yada yada yada" however my p2p still downloads, I have tried the typical commands /flushdns /registerdns but they do not work, I have to stop and restart the dns client service. My xp comp was recently in a 2000 active directory domain which I recently removed to a stand alone workstation, is there anyway of overcoming this so I dont have to keep stoping and restarting the client service?

Please help, it just went down while I tried to post this, am I overlooking a fault on eircoms dns server???

Try setting your DNS servers to some well-known IPs, independent of eircom's.
    Any of these will do:
    192.5.6.30
    192.26.92.30
    192.31.80.30
    192.33.14.30
    192.35.51.30
    192.41.162.30
    192.42.93.30
    192.43.172.30
    192.48.79.30
    192.54.112.30

    Cheers,
    JP

Urm, they're all run by verisign in the states from what I can see..

IOLs one is 194.145.128.1, use that and one or two from the UK if you want to. It's generally a good idea to use a dns server as close as possible to you.
