I prefer my chocolate to come in packets, thanks.

Though I wonder if I constructed a Jesus statue from faeces, pretended it came out of my rectum and put it on ebay, would that Las Vegas hotel buying all the religious stuff give me fifty grand for it.
Note: The evidence supporting colon cleansing is mostly observational evidence. We do not know of any scientific evidence (double blind, randomized, placebo controlled studies) to support colon cleansing or to give an explanation of what comes out during our cleanse
    Oh what a pity.

I found this (work safe and you could view it in front of your mother) pretty damned funny though.

Eat lots of fibre and drink plenty of fluids, then you won't get any impacted faeces.

two pints of murphy's or a flagon of cider would likely have the same effect and be more enjoyable and a lot cheaper

Never normally, people get impacted faeces when they do not eat enough fibre/drink enough water. It occurs in older people who have long standing constipation and they get diverticulosis where abnormal pouches of gut form which store up faeces.

The faeces impacts here and causes discomfort and may become infected.

It is never normal to have that much crap stuck in you. Some people walk around with kilos of crap stuck inside them as those pictures demonstrate - if you look closely, you can actually see the shape of the large intestine and its infoldings on the crap! Most of the time people just find it uncomfortable.

It is debatable how much benefit colon cleansing actually does though. Avoid the problem! Eat Weetabix!

Apparently the largest recorded amounted to less than a kilo.

I heard that one too - apparently he had 14kg of rotting meat in his colon when they performed his autopsy.

    However...

It gets even worse. I remember reading about this stuff a while back. It's called 'Mucoid Plaque'.

    Quote
"That 40 pounds was due to caked layers of encrusted mucus mixed with fecal matter, bizarrely resembling hardened blackish-green truck tire rubber or an old piece of dried rawhide. I call this mucoid plaque. This mucoid plaque, when it is removed during an intensive colon cleanse, often shows ropelike twists, striations, overlaps, folds, creases—the shape and texture of the intestinal wall."

It's smell is supposed to defy description.

John Wayne is a myth, he never had an autopsy.

Elvis on the other hand did and his colon was full to the brim.
Apparently the largest recorded amounted to less than a kilo.

    Case report: http://www.pai-ca.org/pubs/701501.htm

Total weight of this large intestine was 5.5kg. Remember the bowel stretches over time and so it is not as painful as if it were a sudden stretch from sudden constipation. This is an extreme case and you would be very unwell with it. The concept of a "mucoid plaque" is a dubious one though.

Cure is a high fibre diet and loads of water. You don't need your colon cleansed if you manage that......

That's not a cure, it's a preventative method. It won't shift any impactd crap that's already there. It's a pretty nasty procedure but probably worth doing at least a couple of times in your life. Who want's to go first....

A human body is a dynamic thing, it heals and repairs so long as you remove the insult. If people eat well then the colon will heal itself....

    Sorry! But no...... :D

BTW - I am having growing doubts over the efficacy of colon cleansing and also the concept if a mucous plaque - there is NO reference to this in any of the pathology textbooks and the person who advocates it although calling himself "Dr.", the titles after his name are "N.D.", not "M.D." - a significant difference......

I have a growing suspicion that those pictures are of a few, very rare extreme cases and are now being used to champion the use of colon cleansing. To have that much surface area covered by a "mucous plaque" would mean you would have serious gut obstruction and very little absorption of nutrients and water.....

Although it is possible to carry a fair quantity of faecal load, I do not believe it is ever as much as shown or looks like that. Doctors also do not administer "colon cleansing"......
