I would LOVE to be able to train on Sunday mornings! (and a 1 hour class at 10am would suit me...)
    Stupid job...

i've always found 1hr classes almost completely pointless.

No beer for you on Saturday night so!

    All good!

I'd train myself on Sundays if it helped me keep off the booze the night before.... though 10am is early.

Sunday morning 'Vale Tudo in Moderation' at Point Blank is a pretty hip way to spend a Sunday morning too!

I had beer the night before (only 3 mind) and it was a 2 hour class.

So I was nice and hungry by the time it finished, as I can't eat before training.

I usually keep my classes around the one hour mark. I've found attention and enthusiasm can be kept for all the hour. I don't want people to go home exhausted, which can lead to burnout. If you're really dedicated you'll train right thru that hour. I don't see the point in doing an hour's training spread over two hours. Meandering ramble over.

Sunday Morning Training normally lasts two hours because of the high hungover-chatting:actual training ratio...

Its good fun though and theres always someone who wants to "work some standup" or "do some clinch".

ark. I've found attention and enthusiasm can be kept for all the hour.

How long do you spend warming up, warming down. Can you explain the process? maybe state it in the stretching thread.

It's maybe because I'm thinking of the mats being moved around etc. and 15 min warm ups but when an hour's up, i always feel unsatisfied. I'm not saying I want to feel completely wrecked after each session, nor do i want to dilute 60 mins hard training into 2 hours by taking breaks. I just want to spend 15 warming up. 15 warming down.15 showing technique.15/30 practising technique.and then the remainder 15/30 randori (alive fighting?). It's maybe the standing and ground aspects of judo that make me feel that the extra 30 mins are essential also.

We do 2+1/2 hour sessions on Saturday morning. 10am....

It takes a while to get used to it seeing as it's early for the weekend but it always feels great once you get into it.

I train on Thurs nights and Sarurday evenings, the classes are only an hour but have been known to last up to an hour and a half at time.

I think thats sufficient time to get in stretches, warm up and warm down, a bit of a spar, and maybe some self defence moves. I'd be wrecked if I'd to train any longer.

We don't use mats, so don't have to waste time in that sense, pulling and dragging em in and out of the Dojang.

You'd *love* the UCD classes then... 2 hours, lots of hard fitness work, sparring, patterns, self-defence and most of us are still raring to go at the end. Plus a lot of us train 3 or more times a week during term.

The reason I said a 1 hour class would be good on a Sunday morning would be more as maybe a dedicated patterns or sparring class to supplement training 3 times during the week.

Mats are in place before training begins.

Warm up is about 5 mins long, and is sufficient to elevate heart rate and increase blood flow to the muscles going to be worked in the session. 15-20 minutes is spent on inquiring (sp?) into a problem and throwing around solutions. Then we drill (progressive resistance) for a few 60 second rounds. The remainder of time is spent free sparring. I stop the class when the activity rate falls below a certain threshold. Then we discuss any further questions, and throw the mats away. All good and I'm home in time for All New American Chopper.

We're working for 65-70minutes most classes.

    Peace Out,
    Colm
