I was told this evening not to bother to go into work tomorrow, as it is quiet. I will not be paid, and I am pissed off as I work so few (set) hours anyway. I cannot afford to lose a days wages just because. Do I have any recourse at all??

I had a job like that, small company, I had another job too which fit in well. Maybe for you it is "constructive dismissal" - google that word

No, not really - and you have had to have worked a full 12 months - not quite there yet.
I am annoyed as I have been working set hours for months - surely you can't just say *oh it will be quiet tomorrow, don't come in*
I have to budget based on my wages, and now this week a third of my wages is not forthcoming....
