C Programming Exam Question

I've got an exam in C programming coming up in the next few days. The problem is that I don't have any idea of the theory on the course (and only a vague idea of the practicals). I'm trying to learn off previous exam papers - but there's one question I can't find in any book or on google. It's probably just a different way of phrasing a common question:
Write a brief note on how arguements are passed to functions in C

It sounds like it's a fairly standard question, so if somebody could just give me a very rough outline of how the answer, I'd be very grateful.

(Has it got anything to do with function invocation?)
