You didn't see this right, a mock up of the XBOX2 (CG'd but correct)

    Matches the our colony one.

not the worst idea in the world but I'd say the real thing will be a fair bit different.
Is that bit on the right meant to be for the HD? From what people have been saying it's going to slot into the top of the machine... I wonder why the designer decided to put 1 joypad port on it too!

The xbox controllers will be wireless. Mabye the port is for peripherals like steering wheels/a camera? etc.

I hope the final design doesn't look like that. Its ugly and out of proportion.

good point actually, the designers forgot to include the camera.... unless I've missed it.
Maybe it's for people who want to plug in their old controllers... maybe for the old games?

i guess they're trying not to deviate from the original Xbox's looks, then.

I wouldn't read Xbox - Scene for a while, I'm kinda messing with their heads using some account I found. hnbgfhjgyjy!

I'm half making up stuff, but I was right about the console ;)

    Bleurgh?! :eek: :confused::(:o :rolleyes:
Wireless controllers.... eh, don't they have to be battery powered then?
You're just about to beat the final boss, and whoopsie! my controller is out of juice... better leave it charging for two hours.
    Say it ain't so tbh?

Microsoft said wireless controllers would be standard.

Maybe the ports are what they say they are? Did you not see the text on them?

I was talking about the one beside the mem card ports and the one on the right side of the console..

The "port" on the left looks to me like an IR receiver window - maybe for a remote control - think media centre.

No idea what the port on the right would be, though perhaps somewhere to stick your hard drive, or maybe something like an iPod? Wasn't there a mention previously about a mp3 player module that you could connect to it?

    Was thinking the same.

The oval on the right looks like it hides USB ports.

oh so those renders are actually real. 40 gb hard drive? nice. looks like it can be changed. bit of a tank(yet again) though and doesnt look the best.

As I probably couldn’t say it better my self…
The size of the unit can be divined by looking at the DVD tray, which occupies almost half of the length of the console - suggesting a device far smaller and sleeker than the current Xbox console. - http://gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=8211

it looks like it will be slightly shorter but just as big in depth... I wonder what the size of it will be from front to back....
tbh if the first pic is the real deal (which it looks like it is, or almost is) I hope they change the font on the DVD drive... it looks crap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,989 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

That's the offical font :( I think the 360 is different though, the 6 looking more like a b on the offical one.

looks like a piece of crap. nothing new there then...

i guess it doesn't matter as long as it plays games properly. though, tbh, i can't see it being better then the ps3 (c'mon, cell chips are just too damn good to go against 2 powerpc's)

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 10,247 Mod ✭✭✭✭flogen

I wonder if the "xbox 360" bit on the tray, whatever font it's in, will be the only name-check on the whole machine... would make sense I suppose as they'd be trying to fit the unit in with other machines such as dvd players, set-top boxes and tivo's. Most other hardware would have a brand name on the side and that's it, they dont usually have one whole side devoted to the damn thing

I think it looks good but anyway,
You do know the Cell is based on the Power PC??Also nobody(except for the people at the top obviously) knows the actual output of this chip, all the theoretical specs youve read are what it can achieve at peak throughput probably in a fridge, not in a tight space packed in a console on for 10 hours a day, huge difference.

Also Xbox 360 is meant to have 3 Power PCs running about 3.2Ghz each, they probably wont go that fast though.

Another thing youve got to remember is theres only so much the cpu can do, its not everything, nothings been said about the gpu's except for their manufacturer. :D

All marketing at the moment. We don't really know how either console will perform.
