I will be in Catalonia this summer and expect to visit Andorra. Does anyone have any info on buying digital cameras there? What are the customs like going from Andorra to France and Spain? Will I have to pay VAT? I want to buy a Canon 350D if I can afford it.

I would appreciate any light you can throw on the matter.

Just dont carry (or declare) the camera in its box over the border, take it out and have it working and fold the box away in your lugage, you should be fine. Im not sure of prices but 3 mates went over snowboarding and they all came home with brand new Digital cameras cus they said they were realy cheap.

Customs don't really care as long as they know you are taking it back to Ireland. If you have goods and no receipt they won't be happy. We went to Andorra a couple of years ago from Spain. I bought an expensive car stereo and my friend bought a canon SLR as well as tons of other stuff. We were stopped leaving Andorra, going into Spain and again in Spain at a road check. They just wanted to see all teh receipts. My advice would be too check up all the prices before you go and then whwen you get there check all the shops and bargain with them too. When I was there they were still converting from french Francs even though both France and Spain were using the Euro.

Have you any idea what the rates of VAT are in France and Spain in case I have to pay it? I will be spending some time in each country during my trip so I don't want to get scalped more than once.
