What exactly is the wonder of gmail? Large files can be emailed? Hotmails limits have increased significantly (250MB inbox, not sure of attachments), so whats the dealio??

Actually I've 2 hotmail accounts and both still have only 2MB of e-mail storage. My gmail account has 2.1GB and growing.
My hotmail accounts can only send 1MB e-mails, G-mail can send 10MB e-mails.

G-mail has a much better interface.

That's what they advertise, but that's not what I have in my accounts. In fact I don't think hardly anyone in Ireland has been upgraded to 250MB.

Do you have a hotmail account yourself?

When you first sign up to hotmail you only get 25MB which is crap
I've seen some accounts after a year still stuck at 25MB which is a joke

    Gmail give you 2GB+ space
    keyboard shortcuts win
adverts are text only which means pages load faster
    over all it wins :D

Gmail invites haven't been rare since last May... if anyone wants one just go to one of the sites giving them out like http://isnoop.net/gmail because theres thousands of them around now.

You should take one of these many invites and look yourself. The interface is quite different to others...

2 Gig free storage with radically different interface & new stuff being developed all the time.

its going to horrible if they introduce outside advertising such as giant logos everywhere as hotmail did

Doubt it, they use Google's own AdSense program which doesn't even do graphical ads yet, plus, this is Google we're talking about not Microsoft. The reason Google is so popular today with all their services is the simplicity and how there's so little ads compared to other sites.

ive a gmail account how do you invite people?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,688 ✭✭✭grimloch

when you log into g-mail, look to the bottom left of the screen

it says "invite a friend" as a heading in a little box and theres a send invite button there too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,984 ✭✭✭✭Lump

Everyone and their ma's has 50 g-mail invites tbh.

    John

not everyone gets invites. google randomly allocates them to your account. I didn't have any for a few weeks then I got 50. They keep updating now before I can get rid of them!!

pm me if you want some!!
