For the past three weeks I have been tearing my hair out, my dial up is driving me crazy. Here is my dilemma, lets say I come home and wish to dialup, ok it works then all of a sudden I'll get disconnected. When I try to reconnect the dialup it will just stall a make wierd noises, it will eventually work after I turn the pc off for about 15 mins. What I wanna know is what the hell is going on. I have restored my pc to its original factory settings yesterday, everything seemed to be alright but alas it went hay wire again today.

Please give me any advice ye have please.

Ps: If I could get broadband I would, but apparently I am on a split line, which effectively means I am screwed and also Ripwave is currently only covering one half of Limerick GRRR.

Have you tried putting a different modem in the machine?

Sorry to take this off-topic but which half of Limerick is covered by Ripwave? Anacotty / Castletroy?

    Willem,
there could be couple of reasons why you are having problems with your connection.

    1. The split line might not be "clean" enough to make your modem keep the connection.

    2. The modem is bust.....mains spike...maybe..

check here for Broadband services in your area.
