getting domain name..how?

Hi, Im trying to set up a .com website a friend said they do the design etc im just getting the domain. i tried networksoloutions.com it seems basic package is 120 dollars for the year is this the norm? anyone know of any good and easy to use domain namne sites, any tips? any advice apreciated!

a .com domain shouldnt cost any more then a tenner a year.
