OK Im incredibly bored with dell|5150

I want a new laptop, but its got to be sexy!

So what do you guys think is the sexiest laptop on the market, both expensive, cheap and medium priced?

(And as an aside are there any laptops that look just like the iBook or PowerBook? But for Windows?)

No. OS X is an amazing OS, you should have a look at it. There's a new version out at the end of the month.

Ya I know i had an iBook last year, but while osx is good, i found it was pretty crap for browing the internet, pages were very slow to open, and it didnt like doing more than a cpl of things at once!! (mind you im running osx on my pc at the mo too!)

Ideally i want the shell of the iBook but with a pc inside!

Has to be either Sony or ASUS.

(Although my current IBM is quite sexy too...)

Dell 700m. Its an american model. Theres a guy selling one as we speak on the for sale board. I'm going to get one off ebay next month. pick em up for around 850-1000 with a warranty.

    !

Ah OK, I see where you're coming from. You're running pear or whatever, it's a toy.

Sounds like you were playing with an iBook without enough ram. Browsing the internet and mutitasking is a breeze with enough ram.

I've a Toshiba Satellite Pro - it's all silvery and sleek. It's all angled, so it appears incredibly thin too. Comes in about a kilo under most of it's class too! :D

Depends on the performance you are looking for:

If performance is not an issue then you won't find anythings sexier than the Sony Vaio X505:
    http://www.engadget.com/entry/6337778466611878/

Samsung q30 is a very nice portable:
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/01/04/review_samsung_q30/

Otherwise if you are looking for a good performer then the Samsung X50 is a very sweet machine, have one of these myself :D:

I recently bought the Dell Latitude D410 and it seems so far to be the best decision i've ever made.

    http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/latit_d410?c=us&cs=RC956904&l=en&s=hied

It combines speed (except graphics card - but why would u want a killer card in a laptop, better off having a nice shiny desktop) and mobility.
And I'd normally get up to 3+ hours battery life.

    Seriously nice machine! :)

I was also going to mention the Ferrari Acer but someone said it before me. Jumping Jesus but that is one sexy piece of kit! Would give my right testicle* to get my hands on one, especially the new one.

*Okay, maybe not! :D Perhaps some other body part, though. Anyone willing to swap one for a kidney? In decent condition, only one owner to date! :D

My e0.02: I've always found Sager's laptops to be ultra slick looking! I think ye can only get them in the good auld US though!

Also do a Google for the SONY U-series, they are the ultimates for me ATM; Centrino-powered, WinXP, DVD, but in a chassis little bigger than a PDA!

That'll be your problem, too little ram, and early versions of OSX weren't optimised for the G3 (ironically this improved significantly in 10.3, around the time the last G3s were replaced)

Actually I think the Acer Ferrari is a bit well.. Gay looking.

This Fujitsu Lifebook however is superb. As are the Sony S2 and TR series.

2 people above mentioned the Sony s1xp and s2xp. Last weekend I went out and got the Sony s3xp. Even the manual that comes with it states that the designers set up with the aim of "building the most beautiful laptop in the world".

It truely is beautiful and extremely powerful, oh and at 1700 sterling, pretty expensive too.
