lived in North Strand for 4 years. Lots of flats close by but they are all being done up soon. Very close to Ballybough, where the guys was shot in the head yesterday. Liked the area and Cusack's is a lovely pub. If you are friendly to the locals you will be fine. Still a bit bohemian and probably a good buy due to closenesss to the city. Houses looked at buying 5 years ago gone up 60%. It is a bit dangerous at night but that's everwhere. The more friendly the better, real community and if you give a bit of community time you will get 10 times the return and better safety.
Annsely place is really poor road to live on. loads of traffic and more like an industrial park. Probaly living behind an iron gate or beside one. Prop warehouse and car sales room on the road. The Ballbough flats are all around. Fine for a short while but not for children or past the age of 35.

Well Victorian and Georgean houses will need a bit more work but also have benifits over new houses. I still own in the area and the house prices have increased more than most areas in the whole of Dublin. The area has and is changing. Many locals moving out and richer people moving in. North Strand is actually a very small area it tends to be the areas close by that are the problem.
In saying that Annsely Place is really horrible and I wouldn't recommend living there.
