is it possible to install a windows or boot up something(from cdrom or harddrive(to restore os image for example)) from USB PCI?

    from something like this?

my mobo says, has option to set usb as 1st boot device but, will it detect and bootup a cdrom connected to PCI usb?

I would say yes, but I've never tried it. Why do you want a PCI card if the mobo already has USB onboard? Is it USB1.1 only and you need 2.0, in which case I can see why.

If the option is there to boot from USB then it should work.

    Hi,

I also think it should work. If your BIOS has a "USB Emulation" option, make sure it's enabled. This will allow support for most USB mass storage devices (ie. hard drives) at boot up.
