Just wondering has anyone driven around or visited Death Valley in the Summertime? It sounds like an amazing place, but the peak Season to visit is in the Winter because temperatures average 48 degrees Celsius in the Summer! Is that a bit too hot?! Anyone experienced that type of weather?

Well, its not called Death Valley for nothing!!!!
I drove through it with the A/C on full and it is amazing to see. The hire car then broke down and I had to walk to the nearest phone - bad idea. Probably should have waited for the highway patrol or the tow trucks that patrol the road.
It is VERY hot - a dry heat I found more agreeable (less dis-agreeable) than the Florida type humid heat. I didn't stay overnight so cannot recommend anything in that space, but I can definitely say "go and see".
BTW I have spent many years vacationing and on work assignments in California, so if you have any others questions I may be able to help

Hottest I ever experienced was near Sahara desert in Tunisia....49 degrees.

The houses are built underground ( I believe one of the Star Wars movies was shot there).

Heat like you wouldn't believe, not nice at all, not possible to survive longer than couple of hours in that.

Never in Death Valley .... but I'd say... " It does exactly what it says on the tin! "

Went through there in october, it was around a 100f at the time which felt very hot.
There are signs telling you to turn your air conditioning off at certain points  as you will put the engine under pressure.

Drove through it last year on the way from Las Vegas to Yosemite. Make sure you top fuel tank in large city before setting out. Prices get dear and there are very few fuel stations near Death Valley.

Also its a good idea to switch off AC going up hills.

    Enjoy it.
