Windows Updates

I'm being told by a bunch of programs I need to install that I have to install Windows service pack 2. Checked the website and it said to back up files before installing it. I was wondering if anyone's had any problems because they installed it or whether it was relatively safe to go on without backing up everything

I've never had a problem with it, but you might want to do a backup just un case.
