Out of Sync Audio

    Hi Folks,

Thanks to all for helping me with my previous thread.

I am now having trouble converting my home movies to either DVD+R or DVD-R format largely due to the fact that when I burn one (using DVD Santa) it tends to start off alright but then the audio goes out of sync with the video. I have a Dell Dimension 3000 with a Philips 8631 DVD+-Rewriter and use imation 8x DVD+R's and Maxell DVD-R's and I choose the appropraite settings for each in DVD Santa.

Does anyone have any suggestions or links to a solution?

    Thanks for the help.

What type of file are you starting off with ? eg mpg,avi
What software are you using to convert the file to dvdr
Mainconcept encoder is very easy to use and fast or you could try tmpgenc.
When you convert the file to dvd format use a dvd authoring program and that should sort it out

    Thanks Ding Dong.

I think they're largely avi's but am unsure as my brother sends me different types. I don't specifically use any software to convert to dvdr as I assumed DVD Santa did this for me??? It encodes the file and then instructs you to burn the disc. Should I be doing something before using DVD Santa such as maincept encoder or tmpgenc as you have suggested?

Do you know the names of any authoring programmes?

    Thanks again for the help.

Hmm, maybe TMPGEnc and TMPGEnc DVD Author? (These seem to be getting a rebrand to Tsunami)

Use virtual dub to re-sync your audio with video. its free to download i think, at least the lite version if theres such thing.

Check out http://www.videohelp.com/ http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/ there's plenty of guides for converting.
Ive never used DVD santa. TMPGEnc should sort out your sync problem and they do a good dvd authoring program.
