It would be greatly appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction. Im using an ibook os v10.3.8

don't know if ur accessing the net behind a proxy or not but if you are i'd download the following app: Authoxy http://www.hrsoftworks.net/downloads/Authoxy3.1.2.dmg

it's basically a local proxy server that looks after all authentication, Safari should go about it's business normally
