Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No damage to the nose, fuselage more or less OK
broke the ducted fan off ....

    Its all repairable.
Thank heavens for the toughness of light models.
I really got off quite easy, really.
There was a crack in the tail, but thats already fixed, (just ran in some thin cyano glue into the crack).

I love this plane so much it's my second one.
Here is the first in it's "Quality Street" colour scheme ....

Hehe doesn't look too bad, I've had worse! Shouldn't be too hard to repair....don't see why you had to post so many times though - the edit button is there for a reason :)

Now I have to use some glue

This aircraft has done great things, especially considering that the engine only costs a tenner.
    Definitely one of my favourites.
Normally when a model aircraft "dies" on me, I move on and up. This was an exception, and I just got a second one.

So it's back to the building board, to get her up and ready again.

I'll just have to stop doing those low flybys .... someday.
    Just not quite yet. :D

Thought you guys might be interested ... :)

How much is an alpha jet and what is required to fly it? (radio/reciever/batteries/engine?)

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 3,455 Mod ✭✭✭✭coolwings

I did it two ways ...
The first was from a kit, with Speed 480 motor, Minifan 480 impeller
the 2nd was an ARF pre-built & covered, with a Speed 400 Schwerdtfeger impeller
I'll check what they cost and post it later, but the second one was a lot less €€€ :)

    ARF (2nd) Alphajet €109, hot 400 motor € 10, Schwerdtfeger 400 size ducted fan €37, battery €26, speed controller €40 about.
It also took 2 x micro servos and a receiver of course. And plugs/glue etc.

My first Alphajet was a quick-build kit that was €20 less, I built it in just an evening, and covered it in the second evening. I flew it with the recommended setup which was a lot dearer, but the lessons were learned and the second one flew nicer with less power, because it was a good bit lighter than the first.

It's all fixed up last Tuesday, but I haven't flown/tested it out since....too windy.
