    Hi,
First post here. Been playing guitar for 4 years. Live in Dublin. About to take up bass as well. Fav bands include Grand Funk Railroad and Blue Oyster Cult.

I'm looking to buy some gear (been saving for a while!) and I've got a few questions about the 2nd hand market here in Ireland. I'm trying to work out if it's worth going for 2nd hand stuff (I'd prefer to buy in Ireland as I like to try the instruments I'm going to buy). Anyway here it goes:
How much would you expect to pay for a (if you know both the new and the approx 2nd hand price that'd be great):

    Rickenbacker 4003 Bass
    Fender MIM standard:
    strat
    tele
    p bass
    j bass
Fender MIM Deluxe Jazz Bass (Active)
Fender MIM Classic Series J Bass
Fender Tele Thinline (69 and 72)

No, I'm not planning on buying them all. Just a bass and a guitar.

    Anyway all help is appreciated.
    Thanks

No much help on the gear but I just wanted to express my admiration at your enormous level of musical taste in being an appreciator of BOC. They still rock.

I think you'll definately get better value second-hand as long as you feel confident in your ability to assess the condition of the gear you are looking at.

Ric 4003, new here €2500, new on Thomann €1600, 2nd hand, at least €1200.

Forget MIM, have a look on the Instrument Resourses sticky for a Japanese shop called Ishibashi, where you will get pro quality instruments (including shipping ad taxes) at less than Irish MIM prices.

Another fan!?!?!? What's your fav BOC song? For me it's a tie between "the Red and the Black" and "ME262." Dharma's a great guitarist. Vastly underrated.

Buck is truely one of the great rock guitarists and has written some great songs too. I couldn't really say that I have a favourite song because they really have so much good stuff.

I saw them playing in NYC in 1978 ! and last year in London. Excellent.
