    Hi all,

Great info on this trend I’ve been following closely. Would like to get your input on a pending purchase of mine.

I’m in the market for a laptop (around €1700 excluding VAT) and was looking for something fairly high speced but on the light side. I do a lot of photography and regularly find myself around Europe and the laptop would help the digital photography process greatly. I therefore would like to have the power to run Photoshop and other graphically intensive packages smoothly.

I started with looking at the Acer Travelmate 8104WLMi, Pentium-M 760

fast and runs with the new Intel Sonoma platform. However it weights NEARLY 3KG!

I also looked at the new Fujitsu tablePC which seems to be fairly well equipped and light. Has anyone got any hands on experience with tablePC? Would it be up the task of running Photoshop (graphics, etc)?

If there are others anyone can recommend or has any advice about the ones I’ve listed or the best prices I would greatly appreciate it.

    Kind Regards,

If you want portability, take a look at the Toshiba Portege R100, it's ultra light, and the base model goes for about 1300 euro or so.

Just checking the dell site and the x300 doesn't seem to be listed any more??? There one or two on the outlet store but I don;t think much of them.

    Anyone got other suggestions?

I've added the lifebook P series to the list. Anyone got any insights into this machine?

why not, ive used an x300, and from its whisper quiet operation to its ridiculous size and weight and 3 year warranty its the best value out there. it needs the optional 2nd long life liion battery though

ive also used a sony t series laptop with 10 inch widescreen and centrino and tbh its way too small to be usable. taking the piss at 2400 euro.

the x300 is a samsung under it all, good machine all around

oh the x300 has been replaced by the x1 widescreen, i cant comment on this but its even cheaper than the x300 but also with a 3 year warranty.
