Ive just bought a Dlink - DSLG604t and Im a little concerned, I have set it up so I can connect it to my PSP using Wifi (using wep) and everything is fine, but over the last few days the WLAN light has started to flash, In the manual it says the WLAN is being used when this flashes...... The PC is connected to the router using CAT5 and the PSP is off during this time. Ive used the PSP to scan for other networks and it finds nothing apart from mine....... How can I tell if somebody is trying to access it, Im not really up on the whole idea so I a little worried, can they access my computer files if the break the WEP (easy im told)

Yep, someone may be using it. Change your key.

You should also be able to restrict the range of network card MAC addresses that your router will communicate with (a MAC filter - look for it somewhere in the configuration interface). This is also 'by-passable' however since a third party could just change the MAC address of their wireless card to match one they have already seen yours working with - then again, if you haven't yet used your PC/Laptop's wireless card then I guess they won't have had a chance to grab a valid one.

The activity light could be something as simple as the DLink sending Beacon packets.

If you have WEP enabled and an Access Control List set up then this will prevent most unauthorised use.

However, the only way to tell with certainty what's happening is to get a Packet Sniffer and examine the traffic.

    Regards,

    Liam
