I am doing French for my leaving cert and have been trying to get TV5 to improve my french.

I have a minidish and sky digibox with an expired sky card. My dish is pointing at the Astra 2 and Hotbird 1 satellite systems I think. TV5 is around channel 800, but you need a suscription for that. I have tried alot of different frequencies and I found it once but it also needed a suscription.

Does anyone know if I can get it without a subscription, and if i can does anyone know the frequency?

Available on Hotbird 13E and Astra 19E. S/Rs of 27500 and 22000 so should be viewable on a digibox.

I tried that but it said "no signal". I think my dish is pointed to astra 28.2E, I might try turning it. Do you need a FTA/FTV card or anything for that?

Isint it rather silly having channels encrypted on Astra 2 when theyre available FTV elsewhere ?

If you cant get French TV theres always French Radio on longwave (and mediumwave at night) try 162 (France Inter) 183 (Europe Numero 1) 216 (Radio Monte Carlo) or 234 (Radio Tele Luxembourg)

You'll need to turn your dish to 19E for Astra 1. When your dish is on Astra 1, your digibox will say No Satellite Signal stuff, as it expects to be aimed at Astra 2. Ignore that, and continue to manually tune in the channel.
