    Hi,

I am planning 2 weeks in Southern Italy. 5-7 days in Sicily, 3-4 days in Ischia and 3/4 days in Sorrento/Amalfi coast.

Basically havent a clue where to stay but want budget accomodation (B+B) in Sicily to tour the island and want nice 4* in other locations.

Any tips on accomodation/must do activities? Travelling down from Rome for the tour so how best to do that?

Hoping to make this the honeymoon of a lifetime so all help very appreciated.

p.s. wouldnt mind a few demento nights on the town too so will take advice on that if coming!

    Hey Cha,

Going to be doing the same myself in September, week in Rome, followed by a week in Sorrento. Best way to get from Rome down is train to Naples and then bus down to Sorrento. Don't know much about Sicily.
Can highly reccomend the La Pace hotel in Sorrento, would stay away from the Bristol unless you want to spend the honeymoon with every other Irish person there. La Pace is 5* but is worth the extra couple of euros for the private beach, and the easy access to Capri.
    Hope that helps

    Hi Cha,

Sicily is fab. Yes, you can get a train all the way from Rome, and it's cool, when you get to the crossing, the train gets onto the boat and the boat brings it across, then back on the track on Sicilian land! We stayed in Taormina, it's absolutely gorgeous - I was in Sorrento in September and found it a lot more touristy than Sicily, but lovely too.

We stayed in a reasonable hotel called Pensione Svizzera, run by an efficient German lady but it's only a few paces to the town square and you can get a complimentary bus to the sandy beach/ or go by Gondola (ski lift type thingy) to the stony beach. Th square in Taormina is special. You have views of the coastline with Mt. Etna beyond, and at night you can see the volcano spewing. there's also an amphitheatre to visit, and of course you can head on a tour of Mt. Etna.

Amalfi coast is nice too, whilst Capri was a bit disappointing, Positano more than made up for it. It's a good base to take boat trips around the coast.

    Have fun! :)
