i know this should probably be in "accomodation" but thought it would get more of a responce here.

i'll be moving out of my rented accomodation soon.

    i've been there 2 years, the rent's 450 a month.

it was 500 before i moved in, but had to be dropped because of lack of interest.

i've been trying to shift the room for the past 3 weeks, and there's very little interest in it.

the area, house, room etc is lovelly, so the only thing that makes sence is that the rent must be too high.

    has anyone else noticed this?

landlords, have you had to drop your rents?

    tennents, has your rent dropped?

has your rent come down in the past couple of years? (landlord and tennants) 10 votes

My rents certainly dropped. If it's a single room you're letting then yeah, the rent's too high.

im renting a new one bed apartment for approx 800 squid pm all mod cons etc
this time last year was paying 600 pm to share a really cold kip of an apartment which had the washing machine in the bog & the bedrooms & toilet led straight to the kitchen.Im not knocking my old place though you shouldve seen some of the holes i looked at before i found that place (UGGGGH!!)
thankfully i think you gets what you pay for nowadays long may it last.

no it's a large double. kingsize bed.

didnt think there would be this much trouble shifting it.

I'm paying less, but I'm also in a smaller place.

I'm not certain that rents have fallen hugely, but certainly the rental market has matured a bit and increased supply has helped.

in a house or aprt? location? these factors alone may have the influence rather than a market trend.

DAFT.ie publish a report now with their findings, etc - check it out if you're interested
