Not really too pushed on whether or not its particularly good just wondering where i could pick one up along the lines of the dave grohl one.
Or would these have to be custom made?

Dave uses a '69 Dan Armstrong Ampeg guitar. They're very rare afaik. I think there is some sort of perspex strat that can be got, but i don't know where.

Ampeg re-issued them a few years back, there should be plenty second hand. If you want a bass just click here

I'd like Kirk Hammett's transparent one with the blue liquid inside myself. (I wonder how long before the novelty factor would wear off)

He wanted to fill that guitar with his own urine...

There's a few of those plastic guitars in shops in Dundalk. They suck. Weigh an absolute ton and don't sound great at all at all.

Keef used to play a see-through acrylic Strat.

Rickenbacker also made a 330 with multicoloured fairy lights inside and a plastic top for the full psychedelic experience. http://www.the-music-connection.com/331.jpg

    Is that a 4003?

You know, a Variax type thing would be perfect for a transparent acrylic guitar. It should make no difference to the tone since the modelling is all based on relative transformations (I assume). You just need to program it in advance for a plastic guitar. :)

It'd still weigh a ton though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Eoin Madsen

Have you considered the weight of a glass guitar?

Matt Bellamy doesn't have a glass guitar though as far as I know. He has the mirror guitar with the lasers but that's perspex.
