Dvd's not playing

Hello all Just got DVD , but computer wont play it , dont think i have right media player. You see there was trouble with computer had to be formated a few months ago. I have windows 98 on a gateway computer. Would love some help. Thanks

you probably got software with the dvd player, like win dvd or power dvd, they are the most common ones, try that if u got it.
