Just wondering what shops in Dublin sell DW kits.

Also are they any good as I'm thinking of getting one only because Jose Pasillas (Incubus) uses them?!

These kits are availible in musicmaker - www.musicmaker.ie

They are top of the line and are very expensive including the lower end ones!

They have a another line called PDP which are also quite good and availibe in musicmaker!

**** sorry read that wrong... the rg470 thats the same kinda price range as my edr innit?? and its not worth 850... i was up there with baggio gettin some stuff for his kit and your man tried to flog me a wireless pack for 350 got it for 200 up in belfast..mad but they are good for drums

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

They're grand if you know your stuff. Otherwise you'll be ripped off in a second. I love going in there cos they don't know me and they try to pass off stuff to me for "a really good price, like you'd see in Dublin!!!".

yeah if you give the impression that your just buying another guitar for the collection they'll treat u fine but they would try to chance their arm for sure...baggio got some great deals off them and the more he talked the cheaper the stuff was... real old fashioned way of dealing with things

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

They definately reduce their prices when they realise you know what you're talking about.

The americans are the best sales man. There great for doing a deal and throwing in loads of stuff. There really nice and never seem to mind how many questions you ask. Commission must be part of there wages but I don't care I get good service and gear :p

I went into a Sam Ash in 2001 looking for a LTD M-100. There was one on the wall, missing a locking screw and a saddle screw. Found a salesman, pointed at the guitar, said I wanted to buy it but it was missing these two things. I got it half price plus 30% off the rest of my purchases :D Saved about £200 buying it in America.

I bought some mics from america and the guy threw in 7 mic leads and 2 mic stands with them and two free mics too. They really do make the effort to make you come back again.

Don't buy a kit because your favourite drummer uses them. Buy a kit because YOU like the sound of it! Go out an play some DW's, play some Pearl, PDP, Yamaha etc. and buy what you like.

DW have a great reputation, as do Pearl, and Yamaha etc...etc..
