win 2k SMTP Relay

    Does any one know if win 2k pro has a email relay installed by default?

    I use AVG free antivirus. I have no email clients setup on the PC although they are installed (just outlook and opera). The AVG email scanner is scanning email going out to address I never seen before.

    Latest definitions installed and no viruses are found.
    I heard somewhere that there is a email or smtp relay
    installed in windows, not sure about this though.

    Any ideas?

    There is a "Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP)" service on my work machine here, but that may have been installed by outlook (a quick google says it's not installed by default). You could try disabling that if you have it anyway for starters. You should probably also setup a local firewall and block pop3 and smtp ports to stop any spam you're probably sending out at the moment.
