[Req] recommended eBay sellers for Shure/Sony headphones

    As the title says...

Anyone got any good (or bad!) experiences with particular sellers on eBay. Always handy to know someone's a decent seller.

I'm especially interested in Shure E2c or Sony EX71SL headphones

I've already got the eBay neg. rep finder in Firefox but no harm asking.

    Thanks! :D

I have gotten 2 irivers and a pair of E3c's from wind130 . great seller 3-4 days delivery from the US, no customs worries and she will repay vat if charged. dunno if she sells e2cs though

I saw you mentioned that elsewhere, hence you prompted me to ask properly!

She had E2cs last week (I'm 99% sure) but gone now by the looks of things. I'll keep my eyes peeled or ask her.

Actually now that I have you attention could you tell me if the Shure cases (same for 2c and 3c right?) would effectively hold Sonys. I'm thinking I still might go stingy and by the EX7s but need a better travelling case to avoid buying yet another pair!

    Thanks alot.

    i recommend sputnikshop
Rating of 99.9% with over 3000 sales, bought shure E2cs off them, delivered in 2 days from england. Great reputation,

Excellent thanks. Don't seem to any at the moment but sure I'll keep them in mind.

Out of interest are the E2cs really that bulky looking? I read a review (ipodlounge) and it was completely scathing about how obvious they are - "80's style" I believe was the term :D Is this true? It's genuinely putting me off buying them given the price difference.

Also, any comment on the protective case being used for other earbuds?

    Thanks guys.

I'd be almost certain the sony's would fit in the shure case, it is not moulded to fit perfect, I can fit all the extra slip on rubber things in it too. It is a spool with an open centre for the phones and you wrap the cable on the spool, you could probably fit 2 pairs in 1 case.

Any ebayer with good feedback should be ok but always email them beforehand to make sure they will mark it as a gift of low value to avoid customs.

Check out www.head-fi.org for reviews, I have heard people say they prefered the E3C because they were more discrete

    Thanks for the info.

I'm so torn between what to buy. I basically want to save cash but then get tempted to invest (as usual) in music cos it's something I'm so into. And once I decide for the 2c's I'm wondering why I'm not getting the obviously superior 3c's!

    Argh!

At least now I know I'm def. buying the case. :D

Btw, do most eBay sellers go along with the gift thing? I've never bought anything expensive enough on it to bother asking. And how do they guarantee to pay customs if charged - same system?

I have only had one person refuse to do the gift thing out of at least 100 requests from the US, they were an established company so were wary.
I have seen feedback for wind130 with people verifying that she paid the vat & duty back, i presume back through paypal. very few offer to do that. i think you have to send a fax/scan of the customs receipt

i would have no worries about being questioned by customs if they open the package as they are unlikely to know the true value of the headphones, $10 is believeable for earphone, a $10 ipod is not! though both my irivers got through no problem marked $15.

I'd go for the e3c's even though i haven't used the e2cs, i know if i had got the e2c's I'd be thinking "these are great, I wonder how much better the others are", it seems many end up upgrading if you read hi-fi forums

Thanks for that. Did it ever strike you that some guy may be selling an expensive product for the first time, having accumulated good rep and sales numbers through cheap sales? It's a classic way to setup a scam. It's a hell of a lot easier if someone can tell you they're bought the same sort of product through a seller, rather than checking through feedback to see what he's been selling. *yawn*

I know that's exactly what will happen! Head-fi is overrun with audiophiles of the highest order though so I take their advice, but consider myself a category below them in terms of needs. One of the 'alternatives' to the E3c's were 300 dollars. No thanks! Anyway cheers for the advice. Looking forward to ignoring all shouts and car horns from now on :D

Yeah thanks I got the toolhaus plugin for firefox (see above)

    Great program.

You can actually just look at negative feedback using just eBay no Toolhaus, for the last 12 months.

Change the date range for the feedback shown to 12 months, and you'll receive the categories, All, Positive, Negative and Neutral.

Thanks for all the help. Bought a pair of Shure E2cs from wind130. Decided I couldn't go the whole hog right now but wanted to get something decent for all my effort! I guess if (when?) I break these bad boys I'll consider an upgrade if I was impressed.

    Again, cheers for the help.

As an aside, why ask here instead of just using the E-bay rating system....

    ?

Maybe I misunderstand what your asking but I thought that was outlined above.

You could just look at their past sales.

    MEH!

    John

I could be wrong but that's only possibly for relatively recent ones (<12months?). More importantly it's bloody time consuming. I already said (twice) that I have the toolhaus neg. rep reader and use it. But getting a recommendation for the exact product your going to pay is pretty useful don't you think?

I think I'm still entitled to ask for recommended names for a product that's relatively abundant and quite expensive. ;)

Most buyers (feedback) tend to be from the US, I would like to get a recommendation of a seller who has supplied somebody in Ireland, had good packaging and fast delivery and no customs worry. I have had great service from wind130 for 3 items and very fast delivery.

Exactly. Cheers again runadub...they've been shipped promptly so all I have to do now is get my music collection in order!
