Does anybody no how to delete the English US from word, as i have spell checker defaulted to english (ireland) but it goes back to default English US and gives the spellings with 'z' in them and other mad words that they invented.

    Its driving me mad

    Any help appreciated

sigh - if I had a fiver for every time... I'

start programs - microsoft office - office tools - language - set to UK
in word - tools options language - pick one - then SET as default
in every document you've created ctrl-A to select all and then tools language etc.
don't forget to change the paper size to A4 - at a guess it's on letter
and check regional settings in control panel - make sure not on US

PIMP - additional Microsoft Office Dictioneries cost extra
OpenOffice ones are FREE and you can get Irish (English/Gaeilge) and Welsh and Zulu 'n stuff.
All Dictionery Macro new dictioneries will be available when you log on again.

    or go to http://lingucomponent.openoffice.org/dictpack.html

Have all that, but the problem is when the default language is English (Ireland) for some reason the language goes back to English (US). all regional settings are for Ireland, I deleted all the default US settings.Like keyboard layout etc.il ltry open office and see how i get on with that.

    thank you

you have to change the DEFAULT settings in word to fix NEW ocuments
AND you have to change the language in ALL the text in any OLD documents

might as well delete all copies of normal.dot (blank doc template) then open word again and see what language the text in a new file is in.
