    Booked a flight to the states for august to go visit the mrs for 550 euro, i now need to cancel the flights and i've been told that i can get my taxes back which is 56 euro, wtf so they just stole 500euro, its ****ing shocking.

    There must be a no cancelation clause.

    See if theres a change in travel dates allowed.
    That might be for a fee but at least you wont be at the loss of the whole €500 if you can go another time.

    Surely you are entitled to a refund - especially as you are cancelling it so far in advance!

    can you do a name change on the ticket? that way you could possibly sell the ticket and at least get some money back. I think Aer lingus usually charge €50 for a name change.

    Surely you are entitled to a refund - especially as you are cancelling it so far in advance!

    Not nessecarily - some tickets are sold as non-refundable.

    Check if a name change/date change is allowed. Then at least you (or someone you know) might get some useage out of them.

    Read the terms and conditions before you purchase airline tickets.

    It sure is shocking that people don't read the small print! Yes, name changes for €50 return, so you can sell them.

    So you bought a non-refundable ticket (clearly spelled out at the time) and are complaining that you can't get a refund?

    A lesson here for some I suppose :rolleyes:
