Windows Automatic Updates

Guys, what's the deal with these automatic updates ?

I'm running Windows XP Home Edition V5.1.

This icon that looks like a flower sits on the task bar. Hold the mouse over it and one time it says 58%, another time it says 83%. It keeps going up and down - when the hell is it ever going to be finished ?? It's been sitting there for weeks on end now. And I suspect it's slowing up my browser.

Turn off Auto update and do it yourself for crying out loud it slows down everything and by doing it yourself you free up some resources.

If you like, disable it by right clicking on "My Computer" and choosing the "Automatic Updates" tab. Then download the updates you actually want from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

It keeps going "up and down" because it's downloading a new update
