the pc was previously set up for BB,so i am trying to use its internal modem and the dial-up icon is connected on the network connections, lan or high speed has local area connection unplugged, and 1394 net adapter connected.
when I am dialling up the pc asks me twice to connect to which i press enter twice then i am online for a brief time!

I had a bog standard Dunnes PC(fujitsu) and never had a bother!
    Checked the phone line_fine
    checked Internet settings fine
    I really dont understand this!
could it be a case where i need to by pass the internal modem and get an external?
CHecked the status of the modem also and its working fine according to the PC!

did you switch ISP to IOL (like i said above i had same problem with eircom), DID you run AntiSpyware (adaware, spybot or hijackThis)
post results of Hijackthis and ill tell you which keys you can delete.

    [EDIT]
IOL were looking for €120 cos you probably asked them for BB, just find there ISP dial up number, and switch from Eircom to IOL.
