What is eating my daffodils??

    Hi, hope someone can help.
I planted lots of tulips + daffodils in November & they have all come up over the last few months. But.. something is eating the flowers. Some of them have holes all over the flowers, some have the flowers completely eaten off before they even come out. The tulip flowers seem to be ok but the leaves are being destroyed. There seem to be some small black insects on the daffodils but no greenfly or anything like that.
Any ideas/advice as to how I can stop it?

    Thanks in advance,
    Patrick.

Pretty much a novice gardener but reckon it might be slugs and snails - they have eaten a lot of stuff in my garden inc i suspect tulips and daffodils. You could try putting down slug pellets or beer traps see how it works - some handy info on www.garden.ie

Yep, pretty certain it's slugs and/or snails. Beer traps are your man. For snails, I reserve a small plastic bucket of strong salt water, and go hunting for them when it's wet in the early evening. They make a great fizzing noise when you drop them in :):):)
